Keisha Buchanan has hit back at claims that she'll find competing on Strictly "easy" because she was in the Sugababes. The girl group singer, who will hit screens with dance partner Gorka Marquez in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special on December 25, has insisted that the criticism she's already getting on social media is entirely misplaced.
"A lot of people do think ‘Oh, you perform to millions of people and you must be so confident’, but actually you have to gear yourself up," she said.
"The Sugababes are actually known as the girl band who didn't dance so I want people to know that because the comments that I get on Instagram say ‘this is going to be so easy for her’. But when we all get together and rehearse, I feel like I've struggled the most."
The 39-year-old also said she's nervous because of her lack of dance training. She went on: "I feel like I have struggled and haven’t had that much time to rehearse. I definitely think that's one thing that I am nervous about."
Keisha will be one of six stars who will be taking to the dancefloor to show off their best moves to become the 2023 Christmas champion.

The professionals will also be performing their own Christmas number as they've all adorned festive outfits for the festive offering. Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton du Beke will be swapping their usual gold paddles for tree-themed ones as they dish out scores for the fun performances.
Alongside Keisha, the stars taking part this year are broadcaster Dan Snow, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, and BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent.
Also hoping to win over the judges will be rugby ace Danny Cipriani and actress Tillie Amartey.

Fans are set to tune in in their droves despite the winner of the festive instalment already being leaked online.
The pre-recorded episode was filmed earlier this month in Coventry in front of a studio audience, and at the end of the programme, one couple was crowned the winner.
However, the result has reportedly already been leaked online by the infamous Strictly mole, who managed to find out the result from a member of the audience.
Strictly Come Dancing: Christmas Special airs at 4:40pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day.
