Rihanna did not attend Met Gala 2024 despite fan calls for telling health reason

Rihanna was expected to be at the 2024 Met Gala–but the usually late singer never showed up on the famous carpet. 

The singer, who recently annoyed fans by announcing another fashion partnership over a new album, was set to come to the major fashion event, with her invitation sealed a while back. 

Fans were likely expecting a daring look from her as well, as she is known to push the envelope as well. 

However, they were left disappointed instead when she failed to show up. 

According to reports though, she had a good reason for skipping out, having come down with a case of the flu.

A source confirmed to People that she canceled her appearance after falling ill. 

It’s unclear what her look would have entailed, though she and partner A$AP Rocky are known for their fierce looks each year. 

Even prior to her relationship with the rapper–who she shares two sons with–Rihanna was known for her edgy and impressive looks that typically nailed the theme. 

These included her 2015 yellow Guo Pei dress with a fur-trimmed cape for the China: Through the Looking Glass theme, as well as her headdress, bejeweled minidress and collared robe by Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano for 2018’s Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

2018 was the year she also served as co-chair. 

In addition to missing out on her outfit because she fell ill, dans are still left waiting when it comes to any new music from the star, who stepped away from her music to focus on her Fenty line.

Her last album, Anti, was released in 2016.

The album included her hit track Love on the Brain.
