King Charles III was reportedly heard on camera saying "dear oh dear" during his first weekly audience with Liz Truss, over a month into her tumultuous tenure. The King 's meeting with the PM, a tradition he will carry on from his mother, at Buckingham Palace marked his first engagement after the announcement of his coronation date.
King Charles and his Queen Consort Camilla will be crowned at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6 2023.
It will also coincide with his grandson Archie's fourth birthday.
The monarch and Ms Truss spoke briefly during a special meeting immediately following the Queen's death last month.
However, Wednesday saw their first official audience in their new roles.
Ms Truss began the meeting by saying: "Your Majesty, it is good to see you again."
A smiling Charles replied "Back again?", then the PM responded: "It's a great pleasure."
The King, possibly trying to fill the silence, was reportedly heard saying "Dear oh dear" before carrying on with the conversation.

Liz Truss has come under fire this week as she stated she would not cut spending during Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday.
She has faced backlash for her economic stance since her and Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng unveiled their mini-Budget.
King Charles also carried out his first engagements since returning to England from Scotland, where he spent three weeks following the Queen's funeral.

The Malaysian King and Queen were welcomed to Buckingham Palace alongside other Commonwealth leaders.
Charles was pictured shaking hands with Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XVI and the Raja Permaisuri Agong while wearing a pinstripe suit.
It was the first time the Malaysian royals had visited the UK this year, reported the Daily Mail.
