Prince Harry wore a medal that honoured "services to the monarchy" as he marked the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, but did not wear a medal paying tribute to King Charles.

While the Royal Family may have decided to miss the celebrations at St Paul's Cathedral, the Duke of Sussex appeared to pay homage to his family by wearing the Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO) around his neck.

Queen Elizabeth II awarded Harry the medal in 2015. Alongside this honour, Harry also possesses an Afghanistan Service Medal and Golden, Diamond and Platinum Jubilee medals, which he wore during a heartfelt video message for the Military Times Service Members of The Year Awards earlier this year from his Montecito residence.

Harry however opted against wearing the KCVO and star during the address.

One medal missing from Harry's lapel during his visit to St Paul's Cathedral was his coronation medal, awarded to mark when his father King Charles took the throne, reports the Mirror.

His choice of which medals to sport comes amid news that King Charles has a packed schedule preventing a father-son meeting during Harry's UK visit.

A spokesperson for Harry said: "In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty's full programme.

"The Duke, of course, is understanding of his father's diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon."

An insider previously informed The Mirror: "Harry has kept in regular contact with his father on several occasions and made no secret of his desire to see him when he can."

As Harry made his entrance at St Paul's Cathedral this evening, he appeared solitary as he ascended the steps by himself.

Alighting from his vehicle donned in a sharp navy suit, Harry offered a smile and acknowledged the crowd with a wave, as cheers erupted from the throng of onlookers eager for a glimpse of the prince.
