Woman found dead at luxury block of flats in London after reports of a 'disturbance'

A woman died at a luxury block of flats in south London following reports "of a disturbance".

A woman was found dead at a block of flats in South London today.

Police rushed to a flat in Elephant and Castle, south London, above a Sainsbury's supermarket. There were reports of "a disturbance."

The incident happened at the SE17 postcode, where New Kent Road meets Elephant and Castle. 

The London Ambulance Service was also in attendance. 

At the scene, the emergency services found a woman with "serious injuries".

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 15:56hrs on Thursday, 6 April to a block of flats on Elephant Road, SE17 following reports of a disturbance at the location.

"Police and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended. A woman - no further details - was found with serious injuries."

The spokesperson added that, despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman was sadly "pronounced dead at the scene".

They added: "A large number of officers remain at the location as enquiries continue.

"A crime scene is in place and enquiries are ongoing." 

The flat complex was cordoned off by police, MyLondon reported. 

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson told Express.co.uk: "We were called at 4.37pm today (6 April) to reports of an incident on the junction between Elephant Road and New Kent Road, SE17.

"We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. Our first medics arrived in less than three minutes.

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene."
