Gogglebox: Giles annoys Mary with a creaking door

Gogglebox stars Mary Killen and Giles Wood made a candid admission about their marriage after the latter quipped they "hardly talk".

The eccentric couple are known for making hilarious digs at one another with Giles jokingly saying they are "incompatible".

The pair have been married for 30 years and share two adult daughters but in a recent interview, Mary admitted the pair's on-screen banter has sparked concern among viewers.

When asked if they believe people can relate to their marriage, Giles commented: "There’s a friction there." Mary agreed but added viewers would not like to see them "split".

"I think they like us for disagreeing agreeably. They like us fighting but not splitting up," she stated.

Giles followed up: "When we started, there [were comments about us] on Twitter, and although we don’t watch Twitter, I did look at it once or twice, with morbid curiosity, at three in the morning."

He added to Idler: "Some were favourable and they said 'relationship gold', meaning, 'I wish I could have a row with my husband or wife and then laugh at it at the end.' Some families have three-day sulks when they fall out with each other."

The couple's love story began aged 21, and they have now been married for over three decades.

Mary has previously admitted that the programme ultimately repaired their marriage.

Speaking to Daily Star, she said: "Giles and I were like ships that pass in the night. I got up early, he went to bed late and we rarely even ate together."

She added at the time: "I know a few couples who have split up because they have decided they can’t stand one another.

"Sitting down and watching television reminded us how much we enjoyed the same jokes."

Gogglebox allowed the couple to spend more quality time together, and have been very loved by the public ever since their debut on the show back in 2015.

The pair even have nicknames for each other which can regularly be heard on the Channel 4 show, calling each other "nutty".
